Texas native Lela Rose graduated from the University of Colorado in 1991. Rose then headed to New York to study fashion design at Parsons School of Design where she graduated in 1993. Her education continued under the tutelage of Christian Francis Roth, as Design Assistant and soon thereafter, with Richard Tyler as Design Assistant and Fabric Buyer. Rose worked with Tyler for three years in Los Angeles and New York.

In 1996, Rose’s vision and passion compelled her to create her signature collection, Lela Rose. Through intricately designed and finely detailed separates, dresses and jackets, Rose has established herself as a renowned designer.

The Lela Rose collection is founded on a clear vision to create classic silhouettes with a whimsical twist. Beautifully embellished fabrics are the foundation of this innovative collection and speak to the elegance of its personality with a nod to the era of glamour.

Lela Rose’s beautifully detailed collection has garnered her a following of trendsetters across the country. Lela’s ready-to-wear apparel under the Lela Rose label is sold in more than 75 specialty stores nationwide, as well as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and internationally in Canada, Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Taiwan and Japan.

Lela Rose and Payless first collaborated in 2005 for the Lela Rose ready to wear runway show during New York Fashion Week. Following the interest generated from this debut collection, in 2006 the Lela Rose for Payless collection was put into production for Payless retail locations nationwide. In June 2008, Payless announced the launch of Unforgettable Moments by Lela Rose; a special occasion footwear and accessories collection that arrived in Payless retail locations in early 2009. Rose draws her inspiration for the Unforgettable Moments by Lela Rose collection from her Lela Rose Wedding Collection. Lela’s wedding designs have been featured in a variety of high-end magazines such as New York Weddings, Martha Stewart Weddings, InStyle Weddings, The Knot, and Town & Country Weddings.
